1. I am finishing the 9th form and have to think a little about my future.
- The main task now is to be well prepared for the exams and to get a nine-year education.
- Then I should think about my plans for the future.
- It is very difficult to decide what profession to choose.
- Some teenagers follow their own choice and some follow their parents’ advice.
- There are some reasons to choose this or that profession.
- First, my future profession must be interesting for me.
- Second, it must be well-paid.
- I should earn enough money for my living.
- Today it is difficult to get a good job.
- So I should work hard at school to get the best education.
- I should learn more about my future profession from newspapers, magazines and books.

5) Are you fond of reading?
- Reading is very important in our life.
- Books can tell us a lot about lives of famous people, ancient times, teenager’s problems, latest discoveries.
- Reading is a perfect way to spend free time, to entertain; it helps us to expend our outlook, to get more information about the world around us.
- At school we read the classic and history books.
- Tastes differ. Different people like to read different kinds of books: science fiction, books about heroes, adventure stories, books about mysterious and supernatural events, love stories, detective stories.

- I think that teens in Russia and in Britain have similar hobbies.
- Schoolchildren usually don’t have much free time, because they have to work hard at school, to help their parents.
- Some teenagers like to spend their spare time indoors watching TV or playing computer games.
- Some like to be alone, to read and to listen to music.
- A lot of teenagers like to socialize, to get together, to meet their friends.
- The most popular modern activity is navigating the Internet.
- Some children are fans of a music group or a singer.
- They collect posters and records, visit concerts, exchange pictures and video clips.
- Many children go in for sports.
- They spend a lot of time training.
- Some teenagers earn money.
- They work in shops, do baby-sitting and deliver newspapers for their pocket money.
- Some spend their spare time with their pets.
- They take care of them, feed and train them.
- In big cities people spend their free time by going to the theatre, cinema, museums, art galleries, concert halls, fitness or disco clubs.

7) What do you do to keep fit? Are you fond of sport?
- To be fit and healthy is very important.
- Health is the greatest wealth.
- People in all times understood how important food is.
- To be healthy people need vitamins and fibre.
- We should eat more fruit and vegetables.
- The English say “An apple a day keeps the doctor away”.
- We shouldn’t eat much chocolate, sweets and cakes; they have a lot of fat and sugar.
- This food gives a lot of energy, which must be worked out.
- People have to exercise regularly.
- Many people jog, walk or cycle in their free time.
- Physical exercises help us keep fit.
- There are also some bad habits, which can ruin our health.
- They are sleeping too much or too little, snacking and skipping breakfast.
- But they are not as deadly as smoking, drinking alcohol and using drugs.
- Smoking can cause cancer and other lung problems.
- It makes teeth yellow and skin unhealthy.
- Smoking is bad not only for the smokers, but for the non-smokers who are around.
- Regularity in life promotes our health.
- Sleeping seven or eight hours, getting up early, eating breakfast, a healthy diet and regular meals is really a good way to live.
People should care about their health.
8) Do you have any problems? How do you solve them?
1. Everybody can say that it’s very difficult to be a teenager.
2. Teenage problems are special.
3. One of the worst teenage problems is schooling.
4. Sometimes we feel bad because of teachers’ or classmates’ attitude to us.
5. We are tired of studying, that’s why we don’t have energy and time for doing other things.
6. Also I’d like to say that a lot of teens like to look older, that’s why they have bad habits like smoking, drinking, taking drugs, etc.
7. Many teens have problems in private life: loneliness, lack of pocket money or parents’ misunderstanding.
8. I think, teens who have mania to comps are very boring and uninteresting.
You can’t speak with them about something beside of «Sims» or «GTA».
It’s a real problem, to my mind.
9. Sometimes a quarrel between teens can lead to serious law’s violations. It’s very dangerous!
10. Parents want us to study very well; they don’t understand that we do everything as good as we can.
11. It’s really difficult to be a teenager!

9) Where are you going to continue your education?
- I am finishing the 9th form and have to think a little about my future.
- The main task now is to be well prepared for the exams and to get a nine-year education.
- Then I should think about my plans for the future.
- I should decide what to do next.
- After finishing the ninth form pupils can continue schooling or start a working career.
- They can also enter a technical college or a vocational school to get a working profession.
- They can also choose the tenth form after finishing secondary school get a higher education.
- As for me, I want to continue my education in the 10th form.

10) Are you fond of music?
- I think people can’t live without music.
- Music is very important in our life.
- I enjoy listening to music because it reflects my feelings and emotions.
- There are many musical styles.
- Some of them are popular with young people.
- Others are loved by grown-ups.
- Music expresses some ideas and feelings which are important for us.
- That’s why different people like different musical styles.
- Classical music is international, people all over the world like it.
- But every nation has its own music, folk music.
- Russian people also like folk music; we have a special musical form called “chastuchka”.
- At the beginning of the 20th century a lot of new musical styles appeared: jazz, ragtime, blues, swing; later – rock’n’roll, reggae, rap, hip-hop.
- Most of the young people like light music’ such as pop, …, …
- Some like techno, heavy metal and rap.
- Very often music plays an important role in the life of young people.
- It can determine their life-style and fashion.
- Teenagers try to imitate their favourite musicians.

11) Why do you learn foreign languages?
- I think that nowadays it’s necessary to know a foreign language.
- Knowledge of foreign languages helps us to develop friendship and understanding among people.
- Speaking a foreign language you can read papers, magazines and original books, watch satellite TV programs, travel everywhere you want, find a good job.
- English is spoken practically all over the world.
- It is spoken as the mother tongue in Great Britain, the United States of America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
- A lot of people speak English in China, Japan, India, Africa and other countries.
- More than 1 billion people speak English all over the world.
- It is one of 6 official languages of the United Nations.
- English is studied as a foreign language in many schools.
- It has become the language of the planet, the first truly global language.
- Three-quarters of the world’s mail are in English.
- So are more than half the world’s technical and scientific periodicals.
- Nearly half of all business deals in Europe are conducted in English.
- It is the language of sports: the official language of the Olympic Games.
- English is the official voice of the air and the sea.
- Foreign language is a compulsory subject at our schools.
- I study English, because I want to communicate with people from different countries,
I want to understand their culture and traditions.

1. It is very important to protect the environment.
- It’s a complicated and serious problem.
- People destroy wildlife, damage nature.
- They pollute water, soil and air.
- Polluted water kills fish and sea animals.
- Air pollution is very dangerous because the climate becomes warmer and warmer every year.
- Some species of animals and birds disappear.
- This is the result of air, land and water pollution.
- Forests are cut and burnt in fire.
- A number of rivers and lakes dry up.
- Many cities suffer from smog.
- Environmental protection is a universal problem.
- People should solve it.
- There is a good formula of three “R”.
- It means Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
- People can work together to stop pollution.

- Ways of exploring change in the course of time.
- Many years ago people could only read books and meet other people to get information.
- People couldn’t travel freely.
- Nowadays technical progress helps people to learn about the world.
- Young people get information about arts and sciences not only from books but from the Internet as well.
- With the Internet people get any information they need.
- TV, radio and newspapers also help people to explore the world.
- The most ancient way of exploring the world is travelling.
- It is very useful to visit new places and meet new people.
- Travelling is the best way of learning foreign languages.
- Travelling is my favourite way of exploring the world.
