Презентации учащихся

Презентация 1

History of our city

Birobidzhan is named for the two largest rivers in the Jewish Autonomous Region - Bira and Bijan. Birobidzhan is on the banks of the Bira. Bijan also runs parallel Bira in  west of the city (about 100 km) and flows into the Amur, as Bira.

At the very beginning Birobidzhan was a settlement at the station Tikhonkaya that was opened in 1915. Then it was converted into a working village Tikhonkaya.

In the early 1930s there were about 1.4 thousand Jewish immigrants arrived in Birobidzhan from abroad: the USA, Europe, Eretz Yisrael and other countries and regions around the world.

Jewish culture is  Jewish literature. It is widely represented by famous writer Sholom-Aleichem.

Dear Mary, have you ever heard about Sholom-Aleichem?

Student:

Yes, I know that a crater on Mercury was named  for Sholom-Aleihem. There is a Culture Centre named for Sholom-Aleichem in Bronx. Sholem Aleichem Plaque  was founded in 1900 in Manhattan.  (наглядный материал).

Teacher:

I think that this information is new for everybody of us. My students want to tell you about Sholom-Aleichem as a writer.

(2 учеников рассказывают подготовленные заранее доклады о биографии  и творчестве Шолом-Алейхема).

1 student:

Sholem - Aleichem

Solomon Naumovich Rabinovich (Salomon Nochem Vevik) was born in 1859 into a Hasidic family in Pereyaslav and grew up in the nearby shtetl (small town with a large Jewish population) of Voronko.

His first venture into writing was an alphabetic glossary of the epithets used by his stepmother. At the age of fifteen, inspired by Robinson Crusoe, he composed a Jewish version of the novel. He adopted the pseudonym Sholem Aleichem, a Yiddish variant of the Hebrew expression shalom aleichem, meaning "peace be with you" or "hello".

2 student:

Literary career

At first, Sholem Aleichem wrote in Russian and Hebrew. From 1883 on, he produced over forty volumes in Yiddish, thereby becoming a central figure in Yiddish literature by 1890. Most writing for Russian Jews at the time was in Hebrew, the liturgical language used largely by learned Jews. Yiddish, however, was the vernacular language of nearly all literate East European Jews. It was often derogatorily called "jargon", but Sholem Aleichem used this term in an entirely non-pejorative sense.

There are a lot of world-famous novels of Sholom-Aleihem:  Stempenyu, Mottel the Cantor's son, originally written in Yiddish, Wandering Stars and others.

He created many plays too:  The Doctor, Jewish Daughters (in Yiddish -  Yidishe tekhter), Hard to be a Jew (Shver tsu zayn a yid), The Jackpot (Dos groyse gevins), Tevye the Milkman (Tevye der milkhiker).

Teacher:

Can  you  imagine Jewish culture without Jewish cuisine? Let’s read the text about it.

Text for reading:

Jewish cooking

Jewish cooking is a unique synthesis of cooking styles from the many places that Jews have lived throughout the centuries. Jewish cooking shows the influence of Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, Spanish, German and Eastern European styles of cooking, all influenced by the unique dietary constraints of kashrut and other Jewish laws.

Many of the foods that we think of as Jewish are not unique to Jewish culture. Stuffed cabbage, a traditional Jewish dish, is common in Eastern Europe. Blintzes and knishes are familiar to all Germans, not just Jewish ones. Falafel and hummus, increasingly thought of as Israeli-Jewish foods, can be found in any Greek restaurant. But the combination of these varied foods into one style of cooking, along with our own innovations, is uniquely Jewish.

Student:

I want to suggest you to  prepare a jewish dish – latkes.  It is potato pancakes traditionally served during Chanukkah.

Ingredients

  1.  5  potatoes
  2.  1 medium onion
  3.  1 large egg beaten
  4.  3-4 tablespoons of flour
  5.  Salt and pepper to taste
  6.  Vegetable oil for frying

Directions

1. Peel the potatoes and put them in cold water.

2. Place together in a fine-mesh strainer to squeeze out water.

3. Mix the potato and onion with the flour.

4. Add the egg and salt and pepper.

5. Heat a griddle or non-stick pan with at least one-inch of vegetable oil.

6. Drop around 2 tablespoons of the potato mixture into the pan. After a few seconds, flatten the mound with the back of spatula.

7. Fry for a few minutes until golden. Flip the latke over and brown the other side.

8. Serve immediately or keep warm (and crispy) in a 250 degree oven.

B'teavon! (Bon Appetite in Hebrew)

Teacher:

Jewish music is famous for its folk songs. We have a surprise for our guest. We will sing  famous jewish song “Tum balalaika”.

YIDDISH
Shteyt a bocher, shteyt un tracht,
tracht un tracht a gantze nacht.
Vemen tsu nemen un nit far shemen,
vemen tsu nemen un nit far shemen.

Refrain:
Tumbala, tumbala, tumbalalaika,
Tumbala, tumbala, tumbalalaika
tumbalalaika, shpiel balalaika
tumbalalaika - freylach zol zayn.

ENGLISH
A young lad is thinking, thinking all night
Would it be wrong, he asks, or maybe right,
Should he declare his love, dare he choose,
And would she accept, or will she refuse?

Chorus:
Tumbala, tumbala, tumbalalaika,
Tumbala, tumbala, tumbalalaika
tumbalalaika, play Balalaika,
tumbalalaika - let us be merry.

3. Рефлексия учебной деятельности.

T. Good work, children. I’m proud of you today. You did really very well. That’s my own opinion. So I want you to remember your work during the lesson and colour the petals of our ”lesson flower”.

Учащиеся раскрашивают лепестки своего цветка (затем составляется букет и определяется основной цвет урока).

4. Подведение итогов:

Here is the bell. Our lesson is over. Thank you for the lesson. Good bye. Good luck.
