We call it the spelling sounds because if I ask you to spell the word apple for example; you will say;

a(ei:) pple, but to pronounce it you will say; a(Ah) pple and not eipple but Ahpple.Hence the spelling sounds to spell words while the pronunciation sounds help you to read. So you give some examples with words that begin with the different sounds. Hope you understand.

-The next thing should be days of the week.

-Months of the year.

- After  you can teach him how to conjugate the verb “to be”, “to have”, “to do”, “to go”, etc. in all the tense in English. For example;

“to be” in the present simple tense

Positive form                                                    Contracted form of the positive form

Singular                        Plural                             Singular                       Plural

I am                             We are                              I’m                                We’re

You are                        You are                             You’re                           You’re

He/She/It is                They are                      He’s/She’s/It’s                 They’re

Negative form of the positive form              Contracted form of the negative form

I am not                                                                   I’mnot

You are not                                      You can say You’re not but You aren’t is better

He/ She / It is not                                   He’s not or He isn’t is better (same for she and it)

We are not                                      We’re not but We aren’t is better

You are not                                                                   You aren’t

They are not                                                                They aren’t

Simple past of the verb “to be”                      There is no contracted form for simple past

 I was                                     They were

You were

He/ She / It was

We were

You were

Negative form of the simple past             Contracted form of the negative form

I was not                                                              I wasn’t

You were not                                                      You weren’t

He / She / It was not                                          He wasn’t (same for she and it)

We were not                                                        We weren’t

You were not                                                      You weren’t

They were not                                                    They weren’t

Future of the verb “to be”

I will or Shall

You will

He / She / It will

We will or shall

You will

They will

We use shall only for the first person singular and first person plural.

Follow this example and you conjugate the rest of the verb. Take note all the forms have a contracted form.

NB: The contracted form is mostly use  in speaking.

 THE PRESENT SIMPLE TENSE

HOW TO USE THE PRESENT SIMPLE TENSE.

  1. To talk of things that we repeat regularly like our occupation and our habit.

Eg.

He drinks tea. (what he does every morning)

She walks to school.

We swim every week.

  1. To talk of general truth and things that last for a very long time.

Eg.

He lives in London. (general truth)

She teaches in The University.

Ukraine is cold during Winter.

Form of the present simple tense

The present simple tense has two forms;

Singular                                               Plural

I visit / play                                         We visit / play

You visit / play                                    You visit / play

He / She / It visits or plays              They visit / play

NB:- At the third person singular (He / She / It ) all verbs in the present simple tense change. We sometimes add S as in the example above.

  1. To form the third person singular of verbs that end in the following letters; o, x, ss, sh , ou and ch, you add es at the end of the verbs.

Eg. Finish – finishes; go – goes ; wash – washes ; miss – misses ; mix – mixes

  1. To form the third person singular of verbs that end with a consonant + y, take away and add ies to the verb.

Eg. Marry – marries; try – tries; fly – flies etc.

  1. To form the third person singular of verbs that end with a vowel + y, you just add s to the verb.

Eg. Buy – buys; say – says; pray - prays

The five vowels in English are (a, e, I o u). So the rest of the letters are consonants.

If you have any difficulties just let me know. I will send more some other time. By for now and take care.
