LET   ME    INTRODUCE   MYSELF

My  full name is ……..  -my friends call me ….    I’m ….years old and I’m (un)married.

I was born  on the 22d of July .in 1990. and grew up  in Yoshkar-Ola.

I studied  at secondary school # …  in Yoshkar- Ola and  left  it  in  200…

In 2011 I entered  Mari State Technical University. Now I am a first-year full-time student  of  the Faculty of Information Technologies and Computer Engineering, where I specialize in Information Security, Computer Engineering,  Programming.

I have the qualities required for this job. My friends always consider me to be reliable. Good communication skills, punctuality, confidence, versatility, ability to cope with routine work  are necessary qualities needed for the job in ICT.

Family is one of the most important things in one's life. I haven’t got a family of my own yet, so I shall speak about my parents’ family. There are four of us: father, mother, younger brother and myself. (I’m  the only child  in the family).

My mother is a house-wife. She is thirty-four, but she looks much younger. My mother keeps house and takes care of all family. She is very good at cooking.

My father is an employee of the Central Bank. He is very experienced. He is forty.

My parents have much in common, but they have different views on music, books, films, sports.

My brother’s name is Anton. He is thirteen years old. He is a schoolboy.

Our family has a lot of relatives.

We spend a lot of time together and we are friendly. We are deeply attached to each other and we get on very well.

My name is Giang (Gan for short). I was born on 29th Nov, 1992. I’ve grown up in Hanoi, Vietnam. For now, I’m a student in a well-known high school called Viet Duc.

Except for school’s hours, I spend almost rest of my time for social work. I’ve been working for an international organization which is known as The Dreams + Teams, for 2 years. This organization is available for teenagers wanting to prove their leadership skills as well as having chance to express themselves. To be honest, I feel really lucky to be one of  four managers of the represent center for this organization in Vietnam. Together with more than 20 other members, we’ve built up lots of events which can make us proud everytime we talk about them. One of the most memorable event of last year was a pretty big Mid – summer party for orphans and disabled children. As a result, we saw how useful we, as well as our organization, could be.

On the other hand, just like any others who are at the same age as me, I love music. Japanese and American tunes always lift me up so high. I can hardly think of a day in my life without music. People can rarely find me without my
headphones and my ipod. If they do, it means I’m doing things which I take really seriously.

There’s something I find pretty strange about myself. Easily, I can imagine every part of my life, every scene, has its own soundtrack fitting so perfectly, just like a movie. Do you think that’s pretty interesting?

Right now, I don’t know what I’m going to do in the future. But I don’t want to think about that much now. ‘Cos I just want to live the way I am. You may also get that as the goal of my life!

My Friend and Hobby

Let me begin with a few words  about my friend’s  (friends’)  personality (ies).

Friends are  important  in our life because   we  spend a lot of time with them. We  learn  from them, and they  learn from us. It is natural to learn from  other  people in our  age group.

The most important thing for being good friends is to be ready to help one another in any situation, to support one another and to solve all the problems together. And never mind, that the friends may have different interests and hobbies, different likes and dislikes. They say that the friend in need is a friend indeed. I think it is really so.

I have a very good friend. His (her) name is .... My  friend  has  positive influence on me. He (she)……. ( helped me  enter  the university, teaches  me to play the guitar,…).

My friend and I always do our best to help one another. We discuss all our troubles, sometimes  argue, but try to find the best decision in any situation. My friend is a very reliable, kind and clever boy (girl). We often spend our free time together. It is not very easy now, because both of us are very busy — we  are studying  at the university. When we have some free time, we go for walks, read and discuss books, watch films, go to discos or play computer games.

My friend is going to become a doctor (a teacher, an engineer, a lawyer). Our future professions are different (the same) and the subjects we have to study are different (the same) too, but (and) we like to work together and to help one another in our study.

Playing computer games is our (common)  hobby. We  can  play games in the Internet sometimes with people from all over the world. We  do it  after a hard working day, just for relaxation. I am not interested in driving-shooting-killing games. My favourite  game is ………………..

I can't live without computer, it is an essential component of my life. But I am not a game-player, my main interests in computers are e-mail and the Internet. Through e-mail I communicate with people from different countries. E-mail makes it easy and fast. And the Internet helps me to be well-informed about all world-events. So computers provide me with the most important thing - information. That's why I‘ve  chosen computers as my future profession.

Besides   I (we)  have a very wide range of hobbies. But I  (we) prefer not very active kind of rest. First of all my hobby is music. It is a very special hobby, because you can listen to music while doing any other job. I like different kinds of music. I can't say with sure that I don't understand classical music and prefer pop ( rap ….) only. Some of my favourite groups and singers are the Beatles, the Rolling stones, Shakespeare's sisters, Elton John, Julianne Werding and Sting.

Another thing that interests me is reading. It plays an important role in my life. Some of my favorite authors are Charlotte Bronte, Oscar Wilde, Jerome Klapka Jerome.

My friend and I are fond of sports. We go in for swimming (tennis) and often go to the swimming pool (tennis court) together. (We are football fans and we like to watch and discuss football matches on TV or to go to the stadium.  I and my friend visit karate section. We do not only study the methods of self-defense, but also we study to be self-controlled in difficult situations, we develop our own force and deftness.). I admire  my friend  who is fit and has  a good  very sporty figure, because  he (she)  is  good at sports (and  try  to be  more  like him \ or her).

I like to go camping because I like the outdoors. It is a fun way to spend you holidays. And its great to get away from the city, computer, and tv.  I camp for many reasons: to enjoy the nature, to  learn new things and to see new places.

I love my friend very much. I think he (she) is a true friend. Our friendship is very dear to me and I try to do my best to be a good friend too.

Well, I am a family-girl and I don't really spend much time with my friends. And I don't have much friends actually. I find it more interesting being all alone or with my family or with my boyfriend. And he fully shares my interests.

A poem by W. Shakespeare
 .

He that is your friend indeed

He will help you in the need.

If you sorrow, he will weep.

If you wake, he cannot sleep.

Thus of every grief in heart

He with you does bear a part.

These are certain signs to know

Faithful friend from flattering foe.

The English poet William Blake (1757-1827) wrote:

I was angry with my friend.

I told my wrath, my wrath did end.

I was angry with my foe.

I told it not; my wrath did grow.

Can you explain the meaning of the poem?  (wrath = anger, foe = enemy)

Do you agree with the idea?

My University

Mari State Technical University

Mari  State Technical University,  where I am  at my first year now, is one   of two state  universities  located in Yoshkar-Ola.   It was founded  in 1932  as  Povolzhskiy Forestry Engineering Institute  and then  reorganized into Mari Polytechnic Institute named after M. Gorky.

In 1982 for the services of training highly skilled specialists for national economy the institute was awarded with the Order of People's Friendship and was named Mari Awarded with the Order of People's Friendship Polytechnic Institute named after M. Gorky.

Nowadays  there are 10 departments at MarSTU and more than 11 thousand students from all parts of Russia. Among over 50 thousand alumni of the University there are famous people, including governors and heads of large enterprises.

The university is very well equipped – it has  modern classrooms and laboratories in 5 study buildings of the university.

Far beyond Russia people know about the Multimedia Systems laboratory where they develop CD and DVD with electronic educational resources (their "Virtual Chemistry laboratory" became the award-winner at the International exhibition in Cannes in France).

Among other university attractions is our own botanical garden  - a unique "live laboratory" for scientific research. Our scientific library has a stock of over 1 million  textbooks and training manuals,

There are  some hostels where students  from other regions  live; modern sports complex;  theatre-studio; club of merry and witty; chamber choir; studio of classical and pop music.

Now I am studying at Faculty of Information Technologies and Computer Engineering.  The Dean  of our department  is  Irina G. Sidorkina. There are 3 Chairs in our department.

My speciality is  Information Security, Computer Engineering,  Programming.

The staff of the department does profound developments upon Russian and foreign companies requests. Among those are the creation of multimedia and hypermedia systems, protected local computing systems, teaching programs including those for distant education, automated control systems, techniques and facilities for image sensing in artificial intelligence systems, and software tools.

The Department possesses excellent facilities for studies. Research work inclines students to take a post graduate course and there is a specialized Dissertation Board.

I have made many friends at university. I think  when I  complete my studies, I  will have an excellent education, and I will be an experienced specialist in my field.  I believe this university can help me open the wide horizons in my life and find the best place in the world.
