Text A MY FAMILY
A vocabulary defines a family as "people who are closely related". To my mind there is no exact definition, what a family is. It is definitely a fabulous phenomenon, cemented by blood, which is thicker than water. It is really a masterpiece.
As for my family, we are a family of four: mother, father, brother and me. My name is Nick Petrov. I am twenty years old. I am from Ufa. As for my appearance, you can judge yourself. I am neither tall nor short. 1 am like my mother about my face. My friends say 1 am easy to deal with but I am always a little ensure of myself. I wish I were more reserved. 1 am stubborn and never drop my work hall-way, always trying to achieve the goal I set. I was born in the family of lawyers. My parents stimulated my interest in law greatly. So I am a first-year student of Ufa Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian federation. I study at the day department. I'm going to be a lawyer.
My father is a lawyer too. He is a judge. He says his work gives him a great satisfaction, because he can help people to protect their rights and legal interests. My father is tall, well-built, black-haired man with ha/el eyes. He is an intelligent, efficient, very energetic and honest.
My mother is the heart of the family. She is beautiful, blond and slender, with big grey eyes. She is generous and trustful. You can rely on her for sure. She works as a notary at the Notary's office. She likes her profession, but has to spend much time working about the house. She is always busy and though 1 guess she must be tired in the evening, you cannot imagine her being sad or upset by something. 1 wish everybody could lie so optimistic.
My brother is twenty five. He is a veiy reserved, polite and responsible man. He is a lawyer too. He is married and doesn't live with us. But I've got good relationship with him. lie is always interested in what 1 do, gives me advice which I try to follow.
I have a grandfather and a grandmother. They arc pensioners. They don't live with my parents. They live with my aunt. We've got a lot of relatives: aunts, uncles, cousins. We often come to see each other. Our family is very united. The atmosphere in the family is friendly, warm and happy. The most important quality of each member of our family is human kindness. 1 think this is the main thing in a family.

Text В MY FRIENDS
The attitude of people to a person depends on many things: his character, mind, manners, behaviour, abilities and appearance. If a person is good-looking he feels more confident. Unfortunately, to be pretty or handsome doesn't mean to be happy. Very often beautiful people are stupid, stubborn and arrogant. And unattractive people can be intelligent, kind and generous. That's why people say: "Do not judge by appearance".
I have many friends, but Jane Brown and Andy Johnson are my special friends. Andy is tall (short) and lean. Jane is middle-sized (of medium height). She isn't slim, she is pretty plump. Andy is strong and well-built. As for Jane, she doesn't can; about her figure. She is never on a diet and hates doing morning exercises. That's why she often puts on weight.
John took after his father in appearance and character. His face is long and thin (square). His features arc regular and stern a bit. His complexion is ruddy (fair, dark). His forehead is broad and high (law, narrow). He has got large (small) wide-set (close-set) and deep-set eyes. They are hazel (green, steel-grey). His nose is straight (hooked). His chin is pointed (round, square). His cheeks are hollow (plump). He has got thin (full, thick) lips. lie is a brunette (blond). He has got chestnut (red, dark, black) straight thick (thin) hair.
Jane looks like her mother. She is a bluc-cyed girl. Everybody admires her expressive shining eyes. She has got thick long curving eyelashes. Her, eyebrows are pencilled (bushy, arched), her nose is small and snub (turned up). Jane has plump cheeks with dimples in them. She never worries about her hairdo (hairstyle), because she has got beautiful, long, thick, curly (wavy) hair. She thinks she would look nicer with a short haircut, and she wants to change the colour of her hair, but her mother doesn't let her do it. To look more attractive she sometimes wears make-up.
As for their characters, 1 like them both. As for Jane's character it is easy to get along with her. People find her sociable and easy-going. Nobody can call her selfish (unselfish), greedy (generous), ill-bred (well-bred), angry (kind). She is reserved, modest (shy) and good-tempered (hot-tempered). I think she is of a romantic nature, she is interested in music, art, theatre. She is keen on literature especially she likes poems. She is good at writing verses.
A lot of my classmates envy that my best (good, true, faithful) friend is Andy. I respect many trails of his character. He is honest, brave, cheerful with a good sense of humour. He is always the life and soul of the party.
I am proud of my friends because they are caring, faithful (sympathetic) and sincere. They are ready to help you when it is necessary.
We have much in common, we spend plenty of time together and 1 appreciate their charming (striking, strong) personalities more than their appearance (looks).
