AN OPEN INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION
TO OBTAIN AN ART RESIDENCY GRANT IN KOLOMNA
ARTKOMMUNALKA 2014
TOTAL AMOUNT OF GRANTS: 630,000
Application deadline – by 13 December 2013 (inclusive).
Participation in the competition is free.
The museum residency "ArtKommunalka. Erofeev and Others" and the non-profit organisation "MUSEUM TOWN" are holding an open international competition among artists and writers to receive grants for the realisation of creative projects in the field of visual art and literature in 2014. Artists and writers who are prepared to create projects in an art residency in accordance with the terms of the competition are invited to take part.
The aim of the competition is to support the boldest and most radical creative proposals that are in keeping with the spirit and objectives of developing modern art and literature. Projects that conceptualise Kolomna's modern and historical contexts and create iconic objects of the city's contemporary culture are particularly welcome.
The residency programme involves:
- the realisation of a proposed (and never previously realised) project in the art residency within a given time frame (from 2 weeks to 2 months);
- an introductory meeting and presentation of the proposed project with an account of previously-realised projects and plans for the residency;
- involvement in the social life of the museum residency (open days, master classes, lectures, media interviews);
- a final presentation of the project in the form of an exhibition (for artists) or a prepared text and its presentation to the public (including in the form of an exhibition; or a reading for writers);
- for artists: – the transfer of one of the works completed at the residency (chosen by the Artkommunalka judging panel) to the holdings of the museum residency. For writers – for any subsequent publication of texts written as part of the art residency in various publications, the ArtKommunalka museum residency should always be specified as the place where the text was written.

TERMS OF THE COMPETITION AND RULES OF PARTICIPATION
A specific application form must be submitted in order to participate in the competition. The application form can be downloaded here: http://vk.com/topic-60088685_28985381 (then click on the document: форма заявки для резидентов.doc).
Applications must be submitted in Word format and sent to artkommunalka@gmail.com. The deadline for submissions is 13 December 2013 (inclusive) and the email must include the following text in the subject field:
GRANT. ART RESIDENCY [+ SURNAME OF PARTICIPANT] for artists
GRANT. LITERATURE RESIDENCY [+ SURNAME OF PARTICIPANT] for writers
Attachments to the application:
- illustrative materials (no more than 6 JPG files, the names of which must include the participant's surname);
- a scanned copy of the applicant's passport (JPG).
Please wait to receive confirmation of receipt from the administrators. Should you not receive a confirmation email, please resend your application and inform the administrators at the museum residency: Ella Manina and Elizaveta Romanova, between 10:00 and 20:00, telephone numbers: +7 985 3350220, +7 985 1800961.
All applications will be considered by the competition's judging panel. Reasons for the rejection of applications will not be given and applications will not be reviewed.
The results of the competition will be sent to participants via email no later than 31 December 2013 and posted on ArtKommunalka's internet resources (vk.com/artkommunalka, facebook.com/Artkommunalka.Kolomna).
COMPETITION WINNERS
Winners of the competition will receive the right to reside at the art residency and a grant to realise their project.
The amount of the grant for artists – 100 000 (5 grants)
for writers – 65 000 (2 grants)
Each grant includes 30 000 for exhibition expenses [+ materials, advertising, the publication of a catalogue/booklet].
The additional budget of each stay at the residency includes: return travel expenses from the winner's place of residence; visa and insurance expenses (for foreign citizens).
Grant payment procedure: half of the grant will be paid upon arrival at the residency, and the remaining half upon completion of the residency's programme.
