Police departments of the world.

police force is a constituted body of persons empowered by the state to enforce the law, protect property, and limit civil disorder. Their powers include the legitimized use of force. The term is most commonly associated with police services of a state that are authorized to exercise the police power of that state within a defined legal or territorial area of responsibility. Police forces are often defined as being separate from military or other organizations involved in the defense of the state against foreign aggressors; however, gendarmerie are military units charged with civil policing.

Law enforcement, however, constitutes only part of policing activity. Policing has included an array of activities in different situations, but the predominant ones are concerned with the preservation of order. In some societies, in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, these developed within the context of maintaining the class system and the protection of private property. Some parts of the world may suffer from police corruption.

Alternative names for police force include constabulary, gendarmerie, police departmentpolice service, crime prevention, protective services, law enforcement agencycivil guard or civic guard. Members may be referred to as police officerstrooperssheriffsconstablesrangerspeace officers or civic/civil guards. Police of the Soviet-era Eastern Europe were (or are, in some cases, as in Belarus) called the militsiya. The Irish police are called the Garda Síochána ("guardians of the peace"); a police officer is called a garda. And although the word "police" comes from Greek (see next section), the Greek police is Αστυνομία (Astynomia).

Police in the USA
Police officers of the United States have always been symbols of democracy protection. Starting with a town’s sheriff and a constable in each town, the US Police has become one of the world’s best law enforcements. Gloomy, self-confident servicemen looking after the wealth and comfort of their people. However, it is said in the  USA “A person  must earn his democracy “. Policemen in the US have proved to be effective and fearsome for criminals. They might seem unfriendly but the only reason for that is the danger of their job.
Here is some interesting information about interacting with US Police.

  1.  Never flee from police.
  2.  Do not talk.
  3.  Let yourself be handcuffed.
  4.   if pulled over by a police car, keep your window open, mouth shut, hands on the wheel and remain still
  5.  When the officer comes to your window, don't speak first.
  6.  Keep your answers non-committal and brief.
  7.  Comply with any orders by the officer.
  8.  Don't make any sudden, jerky movements. Doing so may make the officer believe you are reaching for a weapon or trying to resist him/her. This will often end in a messy way.

Police in the United Kingdom

Every Part of the United Kingdom has its own legal system and police unit, but, when talking about the UK, one will always think about London Police Department, the Scotland-Yard and London’s policemen in their recognizable uniforms – the “bobbies”.

Scotland Yard, formally New Scotland Yard,  the headquarters of the London Metropolitan Police and, by association, a name often used to denote that force. It is located south of St. James’s Park in the borough of Westminster.

The London police force was created in 1829 by an act introduced in Parliament by the home secretary, Sir Robert Peel (hence the nicknames “bobbies” and “peelers” for policemen). This police force replaced the old system of watchmen and eventually supplanted the River (Thames) Police and the Bow Street patrols, the latter a small body of police in London who had been organized in the mid-18th century by the novelist and magistrate Henry Fielding and his half brother, Sir John Fielding. The original headquarters of the new London police force were in Whitehall, with an entrance in Great Scotland Yard, from which the name originates. (Scotland Yard was so named because it stood on the site of a medieval palace that had housed Scottish royalty when the latter were in London on visits.)

French Gendarmerie

Law enforcement in France has a long history dating back to 570 C.E., when night watch systems were common place.[1] Policing is centralized at the national level. The Gendarmerie works with the other national law enforcement agency, the Police Nationale, and from 2009, although it is a part of the armed forces establishment, it is now a part of the Ministry of the Interior as its military component and forms part of its operations and budget. It is mandated to fulfill national security duties and duties in support of its parent ministry.
