Kidnapping girl
In Kazakhstan, bride kidnapping (alyp qashu) is divided into non-consensual and consensual abductions, kelisimsiz alyp qashu ("to take and run without agreement") and kelissimmen alyp qashu ("to take and run with agreement"), respectively.[33] Though some kidnappers are motivated by the wish to avoid a bride price or the expense of hosting wedding celebrations or a feast to celebrate the girl leaving home, other would-be husbands fear the woman's refusal, or that the woman will be kidnapped by another suitor first.[34] Generally, in nonconsensual kidnappings, the abductor uses either deception (such as offering a ride home) or force (such as grabbing the woman, or using a sack to restrain her) to coerce the woman to come with him.[35] Once at the man's house, one of his female relatives offers the woman a kerchief (oramal) that signals the bride's consent to the marriage. Though in consensual kidnappings, the woman may agree with little hesitation to wear the kerchief, in non-consensual abductions, the woman may resist the kerchief for days.[36] Next, the abductor's family generally asks the "bride" to write a letter to her family, explaining that she had been taken of her own free will. As with the kerchief, the woman may resist this step adamantly.[37] Subsequently, the "groom" and his family generally issues an official apology to the bride's family, including a letter and a delegation from the groom's household. At this time, the groom's family may present a small sum to replace the bride-price. Though some apology delegations are met cordially, others are greeted with anger and violence.[38] Following the apology delegation, the bride's family may send a delegation of "pursuers" (qughysnshy) either to retrieve the bride or to verify her condition and honour the marriage.
Secrets of living long life
There are several places in the world that are famous for people who live a very long time. These places are usually in mountainous areas, far away from modern cities. Even so, doctors, scientists, and public health specialists often travel to these regions to solve the mystery of a long, healthy life; in this way, the experts hope to bring to the modern world the secrets of longevity.
Hunza is at a very high altitude in the Himalayan Mountains of Asia. There, many people over one hundred years of age are still in good physical health. Additionally, men of ninety are father, and women of fifty still have babies. What are the reasons for this good health? Scientists believe that the people of Hunza have these three main advantages or benefits: (1) a healthful unpolluted environment with clean air and water; (2) a simple diet high in vitamins, fiber, and nutrition but low in fat, cholesterol, sugar, and unnatural chemicals; and (3) physical work and other activities, usually in the fields or with animals.
People in the Caucasus Mountains in Russia are also famous for their longevity. Official birth records were not available, but the community says a woman called Tsurba lived until age 160. Similarly, a man called Shirali probably lived until 168; moreover, his widow was 120 years old. In general, the people not only live along time, but they also live well. In other words, they are almost never sick. Furthermore, when they die, they not only have their own teeth but also a full head of hair, and good eyesight too.
Vilcabamba, Ecuador, is another area famous for the longevity of its inhabitants. This mountain region like Hunza and the Caucasus is also at a very high altitude, far away from cities. In Vilcabamba, too, there is very little serious disease. One reason for the good health of the people might be the clean, beautiful environment; another advantage is the moderate climate. The temperature is about 70 degrees Fahrenheit all year long; furthermore,.
Education for national minorities
Minorities in the United States have long suffered lower eco-
nomic prosperity and social status compared to the white major-
ity. Higher education often serves as the best means of social
mobility available to our nations youth. For example, graduat-
ing from college is associated with more stable patterns of
employment and higher earnings. As the gap in earnings
between high school and college graduates continues to widen, college has become even more important for minorities who are
trying to enter into a globally competitive labor market. Thisessay reviews the higher education aspirations and preparation, collegeenrollment, persistence, and completion rates of minori-ties in comparison with the majority white population. For the
purpose of this essay, the Office of Management and Budget(OMB) standard classification scheme is used, and the categoriesof black, Hispanic, Asian/Pacific Islander, and American
Indian/Alaskan Native are used to denote racial/ethnic minori-
ty groups. In the data used for many comparisons, however, the
sample size of the two latter groups is too small for them to be
reported separately and therefore they are not shown.
Teacher training
It is widely known that the effectiveness of higher education institutions include their quality, for it is considered to be the main factor of economic and social development of a society. However, as Bloom and Rosovsky (2001) point out the quality of tertiary education has not classically been the main area for many international agendas, and the World Bank is not an exception. There is an increase in concern that some areas of education, like pre-primary, secondary and tertiary are being disadvantaged as all international agendas concentrate on the improvement of primary education. Countries need primary, secondary and tertiary education. All three are vital to human, social, and economic development and all three are in the public interest (Bloom and Rosovsky 2001: 253-254). Therefore, higher education institutions also need to be prioritised as they are the basic social institutions of a society. Hansen and Lehmann (2006) make similarly point that there is a strong link between quality in primary, secondary and higher education systems:
Universities educate decision-makers of tomorrow in both public and private sectors. To do this they are dependent on a bottom up supply of students and the national primary and secondary education systems must be maintained and tuned accordingly
Problems in higher education in the USA and in Kazakhstan
Traditional colleges and universities were never designed for the kind of demand that is the current trend. Much of the demand for enrollment and education is based on the notion that a college education and degree/s are necessary for career entry and advancement, all leading to the fulfillment of the American Dream and middleclass membership. This may have been the case at one time; but, I think, that time has long passed. What has always been true is that a college education was necessary for entry into the professions, except for the law. College has always provided the prerequisites for entry into certain vocations or professions and never claimed to directly train for employment except for careers in academia. The emphasis of curriculum had always been on teaching of the liberal arts and sciences. Actual employment training occurred outside of the classroom and was largely gained after entering the workforce.Beginning in the late 1960s, high schools and colleges both began a steady process of grade inflation. Much of the practice was based on helping students to not only get into college, but once in, to stay in; thus, avoiding the draft during the Vietnam War. However, once the grade inflation began, it was almost impossible to stop. In the end, the net affect has been graduating people that have not had to meet a strict and rigorous curriculum and conditions. This has not universally affected all academic disciplines, but it has impacted enough of them that a Bachelors Degree does not carry the same statement of educational attainment and status that it once did.The development of higher education in Soviet Kazakhstan was a part of the general policy of the Soviet Union to promote the cultural enlightenment among the wide masses of population. Before 1917, the Kazakh territory had no institutions of higher learning. However, 50 years later, the Republic had 44 four-, five-, or six-year universities and institutes. They include Kazakh State University, Kurmangazy Kazakh State Conservatory, 19 teacher training institutes, 5 medical, and 10 politechnical institutes with total number of 415,000 students. Kazakhstan had the highest percentage of students per 1,000 people among all Central Asian republics. The higher education enjoyed the high status among the young people because it was one of the few paths to well-paid jobs, social prestige, and prosperity at the level of standards attained in the country.
The problems which young people face choosing a career in Kazakhstan
Choosing a career is a complicated process. Begin by identifying your passionate vocational interest(s). Then weigh the pros and cons of jobs in that field, including potential salary and job availability. The most promising careers are those in which more workers are needed. Ideal jobs offer moderate to high pay and opportunities for advancement. If you love planning all the details of parties and other gatherings, then event planning may be your cup of tea. Event planners arrange personal and business functions, from luncheons to million-dollar, black-tie banquets and presentations. As people find themselves more strapped for time, they are outsourcing these duties to planners who can coordinate the event from start to finish. The stricter the punishment the lesser the crime rate or is it
No stricter punishment is not the answer for any crime.
It does not help to slap 25 years on one person if 50 others get away.
I think the solution lies in mild punishment: Public humiliation, like lashes or public service like picking trash on a highway tends to work well.
The money we save on not having prisons goes to catching more criminals.
In the end people are deterred by high probability of getting caught, and not by the severe punishment,
No furniture is so charming as books
So said Sydney Smith many years ago. In my research to provide a link for Mr. Smith, I came across the rest of the quote (which was quite new to me!)...."even if you never open them, or read a single word." Bless him for understanding. But if books can be furniture, my home was beginning to resemble a cluttered Victorian parlor (and I am more an Arts and Crafts/1920s sort-of woman). We found ourselves maneuvering around the piles of books that were in front of the shelves of books that had little heaps of books upon them. I am very comfortable around stacks of books, as you can see from my bedside tower...tho' that had grown too high even for me, as it reached the "falling on one's head" height. And so began the Sorting of My Books a few weeks ago. It was dusty and wearisome work, but also lovely when I came across a forgotten treasure, and also satisfying, as I sorted each book into its appropriate pile:
To Keep
To Give Away
To Auction
The development of music in multinational Kazakhstan
Famous Kazakh composers Kurmangazy, M.Tulebaev, L.Khamidi, E.Brusilovski, A.Zhubanov, E.Rakhmadiev, G.Zhubanova and N.TIendiev left a bright trace in Kazakh classical music. Today their works are on the repertoires of the Abai Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, the State Symphonic Orchestra, the Folk Music Orchestra and many others. Many graduates of the State Conservatoire, located in Almaty, represent Kazakhstan at all international competitions and festivals. Among them are E.Serkibaev, P.Zhamanova, B.Tulegenova, A.Dnishev, A.Musakhodzhaeva and others. Musical life ofthe republic is rich and diverse, featuring both modern music festivals like "Asia Dauysy" and "Zhas Kanat" and various pop groups and singers, the Kurmangazy Folk Music Orchestra, the State Symphonic Orchestra, a choral chapel, musical ensembles "Sazgen" and "Otrar Sazy", pop stars R.Rymbaeva, N.Eskalieva, M.Zhunusova and A.Meirbekov. The hottest pop and classical music stars from the CIS and abroad are often on tour in Kazakhstan performing in the Central Concert Hall, the Republic Palace (3,000 seats) and the Conservatoire Big Hall.
Parents must not do anything to upset their children
Sometimes as parents, we tend to go overboard and spoil our children without realizing it. Not only do we work hard at our jobs to provide for them, there are other sacrifices we make as well of our time and energies. We provide the essentials, such as clothing, food, and an education. In addition, we do their laundry, cook their dinner, and run them back and forth to extracurricular activities. When children begin to take these things for granted by not doing their part, such as helping to keep their laundry together, clean their rooms, or do their best in school, parents should be upset, as this shows that children are unappreciative of their hard work.It takes a lot of hard work to be a good parent. While there are certain things we must do as parents to provide our childrens everyday needs, we pamper them too much in other ways. When they get upset because they do not get their way or get something that they want, they may throw a tantrum or display an attitude. Under these circumstances, parents have no one to blame but themselves, and should not be upset when their children are unappreciative of their hard work, as they have raised them to be this way by doing everything for them and by buying them anything they want. When parents become upset when their children seem unappreciative of their hard work, perhaps it is time to realize that they are perfectly capable of doing more for themselves. They can be taught to do their own laundry when they reach a certain age, as well as other task, and perhaps it is time to stop pampering them so much. Teaching them to be responsible will benefit them in the end when they reach adulthood and have to take care of themselves. It will also allow them to see and appreciate how much they took for granted these random acts of kindness that were lavished on them since birth! When parents become upset when their children are unappreciative of their hard work, and all their efforts seem to be futile, it can be very disheartening to feel as though our good intentions sometimes go unnoticed. It can feel like we give and give and get nothing in return. While parents only want what is best for their children, and while their love is unconditional, children should be taught that being a family also means being a team.
Horror films and children
The implicit, and often explicit, intention of horror movies is to scare people. The fright engendered by horror movies can have residual psychological effects for years. Two studies, "Tales from the Screen: Enduring Fright Reactions to Scary Media" and another, funded by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), both concluded that exposure horror movies may have long-lasting adverse effects on children.
Both studies indicated that children exposed to horror films avoided real life situations shown in a fictional manner on screen. The subjects exhibited dread of facing those situations. Some children not only avoided real life situations, but also come to avoid seeing other movies or TV shows dealing with the same situations that instilled the original fear.
The stricter the punishment, the lesser the crime rate, or is it?
the stricter the punishment, the lesser the crime rate. Whoever commits a crime an assault, a thief, or an incendiary he never cares about consequences. If a criminal pondered much over what hes doing and the subsequent accuse, no crime would be committed.
The crime is a stream. To reach the river bank, one should act as if nothing but a present moment mattered. Thinking would ruin the criminal. One can see a paradox here. Some people live and learn to think, and others are criminals. Hardly can one call them people. But lets turn the page over. Imagine yourself being a criminal. If you committed a crime, you would go to jail. The sentence would be like 25 years.
To distinguish the reality and the one-minute-ago-thought is a great task. Todays actions are lost in mist of yesterdays plans. An experienced foreteller will not take his chance to show you the way to behave. Not a single spirit will guess your future.
There is so much that may be committed, a rape, a robbery, a burglary, and there is still so much to think about. Remember ourselves being children. I believe nobody liked beating, shitting and splashing. If a criminal doesnt think about punishment, it doesnt mean that he is not afraid of it.
Its a hidden nut inside every criminal. Once the nut is cracked and swallowed, the crime rate may reduce, who knows.
Pros and cons of reading detective novels and thrills
Detective stories have a puzzle effect. It is a challenge for the reader to solve the case faster than the detective does by finding the right clues and putting all pieces together. Crime stories can be seen as an alternative to riddles. - The investigation itself is usually the most interesting part of the story if it is done in an clever way. It can teach the reader to increase a limited thinking. - In many crime stories the detectives or the police are very arrogant. They do not tell other people hints for the solution they found during their investigation. They only present them in the end to show how brilliant they are. This is unfair towards the reader, who wants to solve the case, too, because he can just find the solution through the information which is given by the detectives investigation.- If the author does give slight hints for the outcome of the stories, the reader has to concentrate to see them. Some people just do not like to concentrate while reading a story. Sometimes literature shall be just entertainment. - For the author it is difficult not to pass the line between crime story and psycho thriller. If the culprit is absolutely mentally ill and also cruel, the crime story can turn into a thriller very fast.
- Sometimes the ending is just too obvious that it is not necessary to read the whole story. There are some points when writing a detective short story which should not be forgotten. J. Shipley defined the short story as "the compression of a maximum of life into a minimum of space". The beginning of crime stories should be a short introduction of the case without unnecessary descriptions of environment. But if these descriptions are hints towards the outcome they must be used. The most interesting perspective of telling the story is the first-person point of view. It has the effect that the reader becomes more familiar with the case. If it is also told in present tense the reader can imagine to be live on the case. Tension should be there from the beginning. This can be achieved by giving some information, but that does not mean to give the solution away too early. The case should not be too absurd or the reader will not be able to look for the clues, and the author would betray the readership about the puzzle effect. Nevertheless, a surprising ending is an important point. Nobody would finish reading a detective story if its tension stopped in the middle. These are some points to make a crime story interesting, but that does not mean the author has no freedom how to write. There is no special position where the writer has to put the climax. It does not destroy the tension if the climax is in the beginning, middle or in the end.
The problems which young people face choosing a career in the Kazakhstan. ]
Youth is a period of life which is of utmost importance in the life of man. First, man's entire life is rooted in his early years. The morals and beliefs, range of interests, education, health and habits are all laid in childhood and youth, the personality is shaped. Second, youth is a time when a person is trying to find his place in the world. This period is usually associated with problems: young people 'struggle' to fit themselves into society. Difficult decisions and adjustments face young people in today's society. There are several problems the young generation face. They are the eternal problems of choosing a career and getting education, the problem of independence and money, the problem of unemployment of young people, the generation gap. Young people have many problems of emotional and personal character which may look silly and unimportant in the eyes of grown-ups but appear to be extremely important to the young. They are the problems of friendship and loneliness, as well as the problem of the first love.
Probably the most vital problem is choosing a career, which is really difficult. One thing that makes it so difficult is the responsibility you have to take on it is widely known that your future life depends on the choice made early in life when your personal experience is not so great. Sometimes you may even be not quite certain about the field of knowledge you are interested in. The second reason is that to make this choice you have to get some idea of the labour market and job opportunities. Third, there are parents who usually have their own idea of your future career and, in many cases, try to make their child choose the career path they prefer.
The second one is the problem of friendship. Youth is the time when a person is vulnerable to opinions of different people, especially to the opinions of his peer group. Another problem is problem of love and dating. Some parents are democratic in this respect, and allow their children considerable freedom in their relations with the opposite sex. Others are overprotective and forbid their teenage children to go out with people they like, which, in my opinion, can result in many psychological problems as they prevent their children from getting an experience of communicating with representatives of the opposite sex, and this can lead to serious family problems later.
Grown-ups should work together with young people to help them solve these problems. We must remember that the young people are the leaders of tomorrow.
