About Myself
My name is Roman. My surname is Porohov. I was born on december 3nd, 1991. My hometown is Karpinsk. I finished secondary school in 2009. This summer I successfully passed examination for General Certificate of Education. I took an optional course in (physics, chemistry, English, etc.)
I applied to the Urals Institute of Communication and Computer Engineering. I was admitted. Now I am a first-year student of the Faculty of Telecommunication.
I am taking a course of an engineer (a Baccalaurean) in Fiber Optics Physics and Technology.
Now I live in Yekaterinburg. I stay in a dormitory. There are 3 students in our room. The room is not very large but convenient. We have a computer.
We have lectures and practical classes 5 days a week. We study the following subjects: probability theory, physics, English, physical training, computer engineering, fundamentals of electric circuits and special subjects.
Usually we have 4 or 5 couples of hours. Classes begin at 8.30 in the morning and are over at 5 p.m. We have two semesters a year. At the end of each semester we take our tests and exams. Generally we take 4 exams and 5 tests.
I eat my lunch at the canteen during a lunch hour. After classes I go for a walk or to the cinema with my friend or play sports.
Our family is not large. We are four – my parents my brother and me. My father is in business, he is in construction railway. My mother works in a garden educator. My brother is 7 years younger than me. He studies at school. We are very friendly. We enjoy being together – watching TV, going to the cinema, skiing, skating, camping, etc.).
The Urals Technical Institute of Communication and Computer Science
The UTICCS is a unique, developing academic-research center training specialists for the industries of telecommunication, radio engineering and economics.
The history of the Institute goes back to 1930, when in Sverdlovsk they founded the Technical College of Communication to train technicians in radio engineering and telephony. In 1992 the College started training junior engineers for the network industry.
In 1997 the College joined the Siberian State University of Communication and Computer Science as the Urals branch of the University. In 2002 the Urals Branch of the Siberian University of Communication and Computer Science was transformed into the Urals Technical Institute of Communication and Computer Science. For 74 years of operation the institution has trained over 30,000 specialists of secondary and higher learning for the industry of communication and radio engineering of the Urals Region.
At present, the Institute provides secondary technical training as well as multilevel higher education of specialists with Bachelors’ and Masters’ degrees and Engineers. The teaching stuff of the Institute consists of about a hundred individuals, employed as professors, assistant professors and lecturers. Over 70% of them possess scientific degrees of Doctor of Science or Candidate of Science.
More than under- and postgraduate students, doctorates and learners both full time and correspondence study at the Institute. The academic structure of the Institute comprises:

The educational process is based on advanced information and telecommunication technologies. The computer resource of the Institute is based on 1,000 computers. The Institute owns 3 switching centers, 2 independent the Internet providers, one of them is based on fiber optics and local digital television network. Special study-rooms have facilities for video conferences through the ISDN channels and multimedia net.
All the Institute data are entered and processed by the Single Educational and Scientific Network. The library of the Institute contains more than 170,000 books, textbooks and other publications on science and technology.
